Misconceptions

Many individuals are concerned that technology will build students up who are entranced only in Facebook, MySpace, computer games, cell phones, and other devices that can be abused. And, that they will have less interaction with their peers. Other fears are that teaching will become impersonal, in that teachers will teach the classroom from over webcam, or at a distance learning center and communicate only through email opposed to in the classroom where they can teach more capably.

Ehow.com gives a great illustration of how k-12 is trying to copy the technology style from colleges. They make several good points in that, “Professors are not required to use pod casting or video, and they still enter the classrooms on schedule every day to teach and assist their students.” With the growing technology in college, the lessons are still being taught and the students are performing higher. The Internet as pointed out in their research has seventy-one percent of teens enjoying the uses and resources available on the World Wide Web. Quicker access to material and speedier completions of assignments, are some of the things that this website points out as being beneficial.
